Only the legendary sideshow stage can contain the world's first all-striptease, fire-eating, bald-magician tribute to Bruce Campbell, B-movie cult hero and hilarious horror icon. He's the legendary chainsaw-handed Ash of the Evil Dead trilogy, star of dozens of other low-budget classics, cameo artiste in every Spider-man movie, and small-screen powerhouse on TV shows ranging from Xena: Warrior Princess to his short-lived 90s sci-fi Western, The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.

All-new performances will be dedicated to his famous characters, movies and the man with the chin himself. Hail to the king, baby!

JON DOHLIN - SEA CHANGE AT THE NEW YORK AQUARIUM

Join the director of the New York Aquarium for a discussion of the institutions vision and plans for the future.

Jon Forrest Dohlin, Director of the New York Aquarium, has been with the Wildlife Conservation Society since 1997 and was appointed Director in January of 2008. Both a Biologist and an Architect by training, Dohlin has worked for WCS as an Exhibit Designer, and as a Project Manager in both the Design and Capital Construction Departments. He was involved in the design and planning of many of our award winning exhibits at the Bronx Zoo and New York Aquarium, including the Congo Gorilla Forest, Alien Stingers, Tiger Mountain, Glovers Reef, and the new Madagascar! exhibit. He graduated from Humboldt State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and went on to receive his Master of Architecture from the Parsons School of Design in 1997. As Director, Dohlin oversees the care and exhibition of over 12,000 specimens representing 395 species.

Their sideshow friends are donating their time & skill as part of an ongoing effort to help raise funds for their medical bills. 3 different circus/sideshows join together this night, plus special guests TBA. *All proceeds go to the Disgraceland fund set up for their medical bills.* Suggested donation is $10. CONEY ISLAND SWEETHEART PET PAGEANT!
SATURDAY, AUGUST 14, 11AM, $10

In one of the most inspiring and historical sites of entertainment in New York City, nightlife starlettes Sequinette and Bambi the Mermaid present the first edition of the Annual Coney Island Sweetheart pet pageant.

Inviting our smaller, cuter, and furrier friends to join us in the spotlight, this family oriented event will bring New York's cutest, most beloved and well-dressed creatures great and small under one roof. The pageant is open to all pets - dogs, cats, birds, fish, turtles, snakes, rodents and any other creature that would enjoy a day at the sideshow. Audience members are strongly encouraged, but not required to bring their pets.

All pets in costume will be eligible to enter the costume contest! A fantastic show will be put on by the contestants and members of the Coney Island Sideshow at this kid-friendly day-time event at the beach. Raffle tickets with fantastic prizes will be sold to raise money for BARC animal shelter. Proceeds go to BARC and Coney Island USA. For further info please email, sequinette(at)gmail.com

Postcards from Paradise: Writings and Images from Dreamland, Luna Park and Steeplechase Parks, an exhibition of never-before seen postcards from the Coney Island Museum Collection, featuring an introduction by former first lady, Barbara Bush.  For over a century, individuals have been sending each other images and text through the mail.

Postcards are the original Instant Messages, and in the early 20th century, thousands were mailed from Coney Island each day, telling stories and painting word-pictures that were carried by the US Postal Service to destinations all over the world.  Curated by Martha Wilson and Aaron Beebe, this exhibition is not affiliated in any way with the government of the United States, the US Postal Service, or any other State-Sponsored organization or Agency.
