The purchase was finalized on Monday, November 14, 2011. Denny’s Ice Cream is immediately next-door to Coney Island USA’s landmarked headquarters (1208 Surf Avenue) and guarantees space for Coney Island USA’s long-term growth.   Immediate plans call for the continued operation of Denny’s business while Coney Island USA begins work with architects to transform the space into a new exhibition and special events venue which will be available for weddings, performances, and special events. Coney Island USA will continue the tradition of storefront retail on Surf Avenue even after the space is made available for artistic programming. Coney Island USA Executive Artistic Director Dick Zigun said, “By owning both of these properties, Coney Island USA has guaranteed that 100-years from now, Coney Island will remain a quirky and exciting place for live performance and spectacle.”   ###

Is it theater or is it a haunted house? The answer is: YES! THE RIDE INSPECTOR'S NIGHTMARE is an interactive show (allow 45 minutes for the complete experience) that tours various rooms at the Coney Island Sideshows by the Seashore building generally not available to the public such as the damp creepy basement, back stairs, etc. Audience members will take a "tour" of several amusement park ride "NYPD Crime Scenes" including a deadly collapsed roller coaster and will meet living-dead performers along the way including drunken incompetent ride inspectors, creepy ticket sellers and lots of dead and decapitated bodies of innocent tourists. At the conclusion of the show, the audience will also get to partake in a courtroom trial of the negligent ride inspector and will be sworn in for horrific jury duty. Keith Suber is a forty-five year old reformed Coney Island gang leader, an original Rollin' 60's Crip who's been shot six times and served ten years in a federal penitentiary. He's returned to his Coney Island roots and founded an organization whose mission is is to stop the gun violence that is plaguing the community. Following the screening it's our Opening Night Party, 9:30 p.m. at the Freak Bar and Sideshows by the Seashore. It's an evening of live performance from the Coney Island Circus Sideshow and stars of the New York Burlesque scene! Hosted by Adam The First Real Man. Coney Island’s cult classic game show has been going for a full decade and featured hundreds of burlesque and variety performers, as well as the shenanigans of the real stars of the show; the audience members who became contestants! Friday, September 9th at 10pm in Coney Island USA’s Sideshows by the Seashore theater will mark the last ever performance of This or That! Why is it ending? “After 10 years, Its just time... before we jump the shark!”, says show creator Fred Kahl, aka. The Great Fredini. “The hilarity and spontaneity of This or That! is really special. Its one of the few shows you’ll ever see that will literally make your sides ache from laughing so hard! We were even courted by TV networks until Janet Jackson’s Superbowl stunt revealed that America’s not yet ready to see tits on TV!” This or That! was born in Coney Island USA’s Burlesque at the Beach series just three days before 9/11, and it was instantly clear that something magical had happened that night. The following years brought an improved stage set as the show grew to cult status in Coney Island. The core cast of the Great Fredini, Julie Atlas Muz, the This or That! Girls: Bambi and Bunny, and bandleader Fisherman honed the show to perfection with the help of director David Kaplan, television producer Mark Cyr and the scores of feature performers who appeared as special guests. In 2005-6, This or That! had a widely acclaimed Off Broadway run at The Belt and Zipper Theaters. “Every performance of This or That! exists on videotape”, says television director Mark Cyr. “When the networks wouldn’t touch us, we created our own network! We ran full edited episodes on Cable Public Access in 6 cities nationwide, and we were one of the first video podcasts out there, even gracing the iTunes top 100!”   What’s next for the cast and crew of This or That? Bootylicious Burlesque co-host Julie Atlas Muz wants to see a documentary film made! “There’s so many sexy challenges the game show as featured over the years! Orgasm contests, Sexy Banana Eating, Pin the Tail on the Honky, Barber-Ella, Name that Smell!”. Indeed, there’s movement to memorialize the show with a documentary. Crazy Philadelphia Eddie tattooed in the very home of Coney Island USA’s Sideshow by the Seashore Theater and once tattooed the face of world-famous sideshow performer Jack Dracula. Noted Tattoo Artist and Historian Mike McCabe, who literally wrote the book on New York City tattooing, will introduce Crazy Philadelphia Eddie. Carlo from Studio Enigma will reminisce about tattoo pioneer One-Eyed Max Peltz and Coney Island USA founder and the Permanently Unelected Mayor of Coney Island Dick Zigun will be getting a personal tattoo of the Cyclone Rollercoaster in flames. The event will include over 100 customized motorcycles, live music, and New York’s finest Sideshow performances. Chris Rider, one of the strongest men on the planet and Adam the First Real Man, premier sideshow attraction have collaborated on what can only be described as a colossal event.<o:p> </o:p> They have gathered the strongest men on the East Coast for a showcase of unusual acts and super human feats the likes of which your eyes have never seen. <o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p>Not since Coney Island’s golden years have giants such as these performed at the legendary amusement mecca.<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p>Each of these performers has several unique feats that they have mastered, as well as the classic strongman standards that no strongman cavalcade should be without.<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p>Gary "The Brickman" Brown (VA) Gary is the world record holder in the brick lift.<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p>Tommy Heslep (VA) Weighing in at 170 pounds, Tommy has got one of the strongest crushing grips in the world…certified.<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p>Sonny Barry (NJ) Sonny is in his mid 60's and is the best at turning bottle caps inside out with his thumb, and if that doesn’t get you, he has the ability to break up to 3 pieces of stacked 2 by 12 construction lumber with NO spacers using only his fist. <o:p> </o:p> Chris "Wonder" Schoeck (NY) Pound for pound he is bending some of the toughest bars in the 26-30" range. Chris made his performing debut earlier this summer at Coney Island USA’s Sideshows by the Seashore where he was a featured guest performer.<o:p> </o:p> Chris Rider (PA) Chris has been declared "one of the strongest men on this planet" by strength historians. He is a master of hair feats. You’ll be amazed as he bends steel using the hairs on his head!<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p>Steve Wiener (NY) Steve is a master of combination feats such as holding a fire hydrant from his head while levering two sledge hammers crucifix style. <o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p>Stanley "Stanless Steel" Pleskun (NJ) Stan is the only man that can bend a US quarter with his fingers.
