Coney Island declining, not
Jul 20th, 2007, 11:53pm

Astroland and the Boardwalk was very crowded tonight.  Its nice to see the crowds.

So for those who say Coney Island is declining, they just dont know what they are saying.

I would have to agree.  In recent years, the amusement area has shown steady improvement is its overall appearance.  I have contacted Markowitz's office a number of times, and their party line is that Coney Island is not safe for families in its' present state.  Baloney!  My family has gone numerous times during the past 5 years, and not once have we witnessed any problems whatsoever.

I was gonna come down to Coney tomorrow, but decided to wait for another day. Why? Because it's gonna be too crowded, that's why!

Yeah, it's really an abandoned, desolate ghost-land, isn't it?  Roll Eyes

Mr. Markowitz ment overall coney island is not safe, the amuesment zone should not count, there is like 50 million police officers there so you tell me how much crime is in that area, when you walk into other parts of the area....well its not the best place to be,  Undecided

I was there last night and hangin on the beach at about 1 am with my girl.. and it seemed safe to me... there was a drunkin guy that fell down the stairs near the boardwalk but no issues...

There were even a couple guys that came up to us that were swimming at that time...lol  they were pretty funny guys...

Yeah, it seems the most dangerous thing in the amusement area right now is the damned broken-down boardwalk itself  Wink

not really Smiley  you forgot about Joe Bull Sitt of Thor who destroyed 3 go kart tracks, batting cage, mini golf course, and boat ride.

And for his next action, will make Astroland disapear Smiley

He could have kept them all going, while fighting his loosing battle about needing rezoning, but rather see empty lots then amusement rides making money, making people happy.

WORLD CLASS COAL OVEN PIZZA:  Totonno's, Neptune and West 16th

GOOD WOOD OVEN PIZZA:  Surf and Turf across from Nathan's

BETTER THEN  AVERAGE:  Peter Pizza at Keyspan

Hey, for a change, I actually agree with you about something ... I love L&B! Best Sicilian-style pizza around, in my opinion. And it's just a great place to hang out on a summer night.

Totonno's might be the best Neapolitan-style pizza I've ever had... But I don't go there anymore because it's overpriced and I don't like having to wait out in the street behind a bunch of yuppies. The best time I ever had there was after a thunderstorm; the boardwalk was deserted and Totonno's was nearly empty, and the pizza tasted especially good that night!

Without any doubt what so ever, L & B makes the best pizza in all of brooklyn. I stop over every friday afternoon for a slice of square, and then a Eggplant Parm hero, the best !!

Their chocolate Ice Cream is one of the best I have ever eatten as well.

I eat to much on Fridays, L & B in the late afternoon, then Nathan's hotdogs (with 2 for 1 coupon) and fries at night for the fireworks.

By the way, Friday night the lines at Nathan's were indeed huge, so I had the Italian sausage and fries at Greg & Pauls. The Italian sausage was good. The fries were very disappointing, cost more then Nathan's fries, and about half the portion. Never again for their fries.
