OUT OF TOWN: Geauga Lake OH to become waterpk only
Sep 22nd, 2007, 6:13pm

After having been acquired by Six Flags, and then subsequently sold to Cedar Fair, starting next year, Geauga Lake Park in Ohio will be "downgraded" to a waterpark only.

Announcement on park's home page.

Press release from Cedar Fair

The future of the classic rides at this park, including one of the two last operating Illions Supreme carousels, is not immediately known, though they may be moved to other Cedar Fair parks.

Some amusement park observers see this move as Cedar Fair eliminating the principal competition to the company's flagship resort at Cedar Point in Sandusky.

Are you talking about world famous Sandusky Ohio? All 3 miles? I though they had a water park as well as rides?

This is a sad trend. I was reading about it too. The water park braught more attendants then the amusement area.

NCA site has a wonderful photo show of the Geauga
Lake Supreme carousel, it is gorgious. I hope it is saved.

The park has been around for over 100 years. What a shame.  Cry
