I am looking at the flyer distributed... by whom?? I smell the stench of someone who just loves the pile the bullsitt.

This is scare tactics... who the hell is talking billions??  This is just made to scare.

Citizens and visitors of Coney Island are not for Sitt.  Anyone who went to the Mermaid Parade knows that.  Dont let anyone tell you otherwise.

Only Bull Sitt talks that the community needs housing and local jobs to get the community behind his wrong plans for coney.

The Bloomberg plan keeps the amusement district intact.  Housing only goes outside that district, and where nothing currently exists.

If Carl Kruger is doing this for Sitt money, he just failed the Coney Island litmus test, and wouldnt get elected dog catcher here in Coney.

And what the hell does secure our beachfront mean, if not to scare.  Sounds nice, but totally meaningless.

And you got to love this one... this planned meeting is all of a sudden... emergency meeting??? another scare tactic.

Kruger is a moron for even bringing up the Olympic bid.  It died because of Silver being in the pocket of Cablevision.  Is this a hint out to Sitt that his vote can be bought?, just like Silvers vote was bought and paid off to destroy the Westside Stadium?,thus destroying the Olympic bid?

Here it is...distributed by Senator Kruger's aides:

Adrienne and I also got contact forms issued by the CIDC to receive notification of what will be hopefully the next actual public meeting.  It says to fill out and return to a CIDC staffer (on the spot) but being that the cops were ushering everybody to leave the hospital immediately, I'm sure that likely hardly anybody had the chance to turn in the coupon right there and then.

So Adrienne and I left and went knoshing at a Brighton Beach deli then strolled down the boardwalk to survey all the land in question.

Thank the Good Lord the community finally showed up! I hope its not too late. Coney Island is first and foremost a Brooklyn neighborhood.

The blogs don't get it. The people on this board don't get it. Coney gets it

As much as I disagree with JoeG, he gets it. I said to JoeG I have been waiting for these guys for 4 years at the meetings. Where were they? He had a simple answer. Nobody told them. They didn't know.

With Carl Kruger involved  now everybody will know about the meetings. Coney Island is involved now. Thank G-D!

The very plan you support..

Fantastic looking plan. Makes Coney Huge! Looks Great. Nice Drawings. Unrealistic? 20 years? Who Pays? How Much? How Long? Give me one of those hats!

This has always been and always will be about Coney Island - First and Foremost A Brooklyn Neighborhood. This isn't just about amusements its about the people who are from  there like my wife and fortunately the people woke up! Finally!

2 years until the next administration.

i was talking about the flyer that was with the daily news story, not that one.

so who is paying off kruger to make statements that still arent true??  What did Coney Island and the Olympics have in common?  It never did.  Maybe a event or two at Keyspan??  He is making it sound like the whole thing was going to be held here in Coney, and we all know that it simply wasnt true.

Like JSF says Muscle you are all over the map. Why can't someone be for the preservation of the amusement park area and the development of affordable housing and jobs for the surrounding area? The answer is they can.
Senator Kruger tried to claim yesterday that what happened at the CIDC meeting
was an attempt to disenfranchise the community. That it was a conspiracy to
keep his group who opposes the Bloomberg plan from speaking. That is the worst kind of demagoging i have heard in a long while. What makes him more important than the rest of the community who came to speak and ask questions? It was bad
planning and nothing more. Tell Kruger and Recchia to stop with the political silliness and stick to the issues at hand. What is their plan? Are they for luxury
condos and time-shares in the amusement park area? Tell us yes or no.

Shmucky Kruger asks:

Who Pays?  Private development will come in and build things including housing, and more importantly amusements.  The city will do its thing of infrastruture, like it normally does, like it has been doing for over since even before there was the incorporation of the city of New York.  It wont let land speculators hold the city hostage.  It said people who dont want to sell, wont have to sell.

How long? As long as it takes to get it right.  If it takes 10 years to get it 100% done, it will take 10 years.  But we will be seeing things being done in less then 1/2 that time.

How much?  yet to be determined, billions? doubtfull, maybe 100's of millions? likely, but is it worth it?  yes

People for Coney Island, we have a new enemy to face, his name is Kruger and he is here to show he is for rent to a land speculator and his money.

Power to the people. Right on!
Finally we can agree on something!
It's just the other part about two politicians who are distorting the truth for their
own political benefit that I can't support. Sorry.

This isn't about either Coney Island job or Coney Island economy.  Carl Kreuger isn't even really a Coney Island rep...he mostly reps Midwood, Flatlands, Mill Basin, along with Brighton Beach and Manhattan Beach.  His area isn't affected by the proposed rezoning and neither are his constituents.

He sent 5 busses of people (about 200, not 500 or 700, although it's fun to claim that there are more) many of whom didn't know why they were there unannounced to an RSVP meeting with space for 150 that was supposed to be an information session - not a voting meeting, not a public hearing, not even something officially required by the ULRUP process or sunshine laws.  This actually prevented the people who had come out from being able to listen to what the city had to say, ask questions, and get answers in return.

The meeting was cancelled by the police who said that the room was over fire capacity and that the CIDC should not hold the meeting just for people who RSVP'd because that would start a riot; no one expected that kind of influx and if it had been expected, the venue probably would have been changed.

The people who lost out were people who took time out of their schedule to come out and attempt to engage in a dialogue with city officials; Dennis Vourderis and his wife were there and I felt very bad for them that they did not have a chance to raise their issues publicly and get a public response about their issues.

Could anyone tell what Carl Krueger's issue is?  It seemed to focus on the parkland designation, which would make me think that he's fronting for Thor, because Thor has the most to lose in this situation.

What was Domenic's issue?  I saw him yell at Lynn about how people in the community don't want to give up the Keyspan parking lot...but I've never heard or seen anyone in the community use the Keyspan Parking lot (which doesn't that they don't, but I do spend a lot of time here and I'm not seeing it as a community resource).

What were the citizen issues?  I saw a sign saying "Kiss Abe Stark Rink Goodbye", but the rink is operated by a concessionaire who opens it for league hockey and community skating for an hour a week...it's not being used as a community resource and the operator doesn't want to run it as a community resource (believe me, we've tried).

Tricia pointed out that BUILD was involved and also pointed out that BUILD is a front supported by development money.  If the development backing disappeared, the group (and their opposition) would disappear.

So instead of a discussion we have politicians breaking up an information session and doing a lot of non-sensical political posturing.  I fail to see how this is anything other than poorly scripted political theater.

Which is disappointing because it prevents the people who are actually passionate about Coney Island from listening, learning, and speaking their minds in a public forum.

Yeah, this whole thing smells of a shill action. I s'pect if you could follow the money trail, you'd find it leading back to Thor or someone affiliated with Thor.
