COMING TO AN ASTROLAND BY YOU
Nov 12th, 2008, 3:21pm

Received a flyer today soliciting for vendors for "fleabythesea" a flea market featuring rides, food and live entertainment.  Guess where its gonna be?  On the Astroland site.  The flyer was full color and very professional so I can only assume that Sitt is organizing it himself.

only you get happy when you hear flea markets.  How many booths will you be selling things from?

Why doesnt he call it 'The Summer of Sitt'?  So when it fails like every other enterprise he tries, we can blame him without you saying it wasnt his fault?

Give us a break, we know where you bread gets buttered, you hear flea market, you get happy, the hell with people on a hot summer day cooling off with a ride on the Waterflume when you can sell socks to the public.

Flea markets are for losers. It's all junk, socks and knock off designer bags. There used to be flea markets that actually had worthwhile items but those days are long gone.

Nemo....Youre an not a very nice person with no life!

Dont put words in my mouth or read my thoughts, you have enough trouble figuring out your own.  First of all, why would I want something that will compete with my own markets?  I know where my bread is buttered and Im gonna fight this thing.  Much as I fool around, I hate to see Astroland leaving.

I dont think its appropriate for a flea market and I made it clear to the person who handed me the flyer.

If Im able, ill try to scan the flyer and post it.

prior history of your public statements still stand, you hate amusements and love flea markets.

and I quote:

Once Astroland is cleared out, I will be talking to them about a flea market on the property!

People with brains dont take everything they read here literally.  Half the things I say on here is to get people like you in a tizzy.  I happen to love amusements.....just would love to see some new and improved amusements coming to the area.  While Astroland is cool, its been the same old same old for as long as I can remember.

"fleabythesea" is destined to be a rehash of last year's failed "Space Available: Brooklyn's Largest Open Air Market" on Thor's Stillwell lot

Those flea markets attract crack dealers. It's a known fact. Look at the one that's next to the old Carvel and right next door to a candy store on Surf Ave. Have you ever seen the miscreants who hang out in front and inside? It's disgusting that this disgrace is allowed to continue. Sitt will let those filthy merchants stay, but chase away hard working people like Carol Albert, Kenny Kaufman and Dennis Vourderis.

How much crack are you buying from them?  Any crack dealer who sells in a broad daylight fleamarket, or anyone who goes looking to buy crack at a flea market, might as well just take a bus up to Riker's and request a room for 6 months. You never know who is undercover or off duty walking around in a flea market. As bad as a flea market is, and a back handed insult having one on Astroland turf, I really doubt that crack dealing on the Astroland property is a cause for worry.
Are you sure you saw crack dealers?

OK, there's this indoor flea market on Surf Ave between an old Carvel location and a candy store. You should SEE this place.
It's terrible.

Robert of Gowanus Lounge contacted Thor's flack Stefan Friedman for details. The good news is "flea by the sea" is not destined for the Astroland property. The bad news is it's planned for the godforsaken Stillwell property.  I shudder to think how this will devolve...

We heard from Thor Spokesperson Stefan Friedman who said: “”Flea by the Sea, a new and exciting addition to Coney’s landscape that we are confident will drive substantial traffic to the area from April to December, is just one part of Thor Equities’ comprehensive interim usage plan for the summer of 2009. Numerous rides, games, food, live entertainment and this shopper’s paradise will combine to offer residents and visitors a one-of-a-kind experience.”

WE all know it will fail like everything else he does.

He wont find anyone to commit to placing rides for that long of a time.

No one will go to Coney to buy socks, and designer rip off merchandise to pay Sitt's rent.

Well thats better news than the Astroland site.  When I called the number on the flyer the guy told me next to the Cyclone.

I have to agree....its destined to fail like his other lame ventures.
