I'm not surprised, I saw the row of semi trailers inside Astroland fence when we walked on 10th St yesterday. it is too sad for words.

I hope the rides are able to come back to Coney Island and we can have a HUGE welcome back party

I wonder if we could have a party ripping down all his signs, like the Berlin Wall type party?   Its the only way of exersizing the evil that is Sitt forever from coney.

The only way the rides will come back is if they get another lot for the Park. Sad

So,now that the rides are starting to leave the Park, now is the perfect time for them to thank the public for all the years of their patronage. Well,I just checked their website and guess what!!!! Noooo thank you AT ALL!!!!!!!!!  WHAT A SURPRISE!!!!!   Angry  bet they don't even appreciate everything that HAS been done and IS being done to help them!!!!!

At the risk of backlash, I just wonder why no one really casts blame at Carol and the family for selling Astroland in the first place? Believe me, I'm with all of you who think Sitt is an evil developer who has no plans whatsoever for any amusement other than counting the money he envisions he'll make after developing the land. But if the family hadn't sold Astroland, it wouldn't be gone now. Plain and simple, right? It was their property; they sold it. Now, the new owner, although dastardly and despicable, has the right to do whatever he wants. It's sad, but true. So why does no one go back to the fact that the family sold out -- sold the legacy?
Just a thought.

What happens when you have a group of people own a single item?  All it takes is a majority decision, and everyone has to go along with it.  There also has been stories that they felt the city pressured them into selling by telling them, Astroland has no future, and when Astroland tried to show them a possible future, the city said no to that plan.

They also may have felt they can sell to Sitt now and get 30 million, or the city would use eminent domain and get next to nothing.

We will never really know the absolute true story, just bits and pieces.

This is true, Carol Albert, but waiting for the very last second before dismantling the rides, and not selling them, she really wants Astroland to continue.  If she truely didnt care about operating it, Astroand would have started to dismantle the day after it closed, and not wait till months later to do so.

A tenant, any tenant; wether they're public or private; will wait until the last absolute last minute to pack. They don't want to give up the place/room/apartment/lot that they lived/worked in. No one does.
It hurts the heart, and kills your soul, packing away your life, the bits and pieces that make you who you are. And I'm talking as a person now, NOT a tenant. This is just a broadbased statement.
Leaving a place/room/apartment/lot is NEVER easy, even under the best of circumstances.
It'll take a lifetime to put that life/work place back together. And even when you do put it back together, it's never the same way twice.
