Best marchers and bribes ever. More details to follow. Thank you all. Especially zoltar, bombshells, and whomever gave us the picnic basket. I am sure there is much injustice in our awards. But we love you all.

And thanks to Dick, David, Kate, etc. Volunteer Steph deserves a special shout out. And all the Judges were their usual maniacal selves. Bless you all.

One more thing, who the heck offered me the Boat as a bribe? They said it was on the Gowanus Canal.

Yes, it was a Great Parade!   A huge thank you to Everyone at CIUSA, and to King Neptune and Queen Mermaid, Emcees Kay Sera & Chris,  Paraders, and to the Deity who made it stop raining soon after the parade reached the reviewing stand and for the duration of the parade!

My pix are even better than last year. More pix than 08 too. will post later today.

that was the Rude Mechanical Orchestra. we are entirely serious. it is a huge wooden boat with no engines in need of some structural repair but it is ONE OF A KIND! show up with a tugboat and it's yours...

Wow. Gotta have a side conference with Mrs. Chief Justice on this one.

For years we were looking at old trawlers as possible "second homes." We even bareboat chartered a Grand Banks for a couple of weeks off the West Coast of Florida. And of course there was our adventure driving a packet boat on the Erie Canal (good thing it was a steel boat!).

Did you get insider info as to what to bribe the Chief with?

Huge thanks from me, too. It was my first time on the Judges stand (and thank you thank you for letting me "buy in"at the very last minute). Being under cover may have saved my new camera! I had a great time, the parade was such spectacular chaos, and I have to say the bribes were very fine indeed. I even brought back a clown nose, to give to my boss  Smiley.

Also- bonus points to whoever did the beautiful face painting on the volunteers. Everyone deserves a little something special to wear- and it was a very nice touch.

I'll have pictures when i am done sorting and cropping!

Well done all around!

Wow a boat, that is a pretty bad @ss bribe.  I did stay up until 2am in the morning stewing the ginger simple syrup and squeezing the citrus for the Splashdance Screwdriver (in the fishy jug although our logo washed off in the rain), did assembly line iron ons with the girls for the tshirts, hot pink lighter bags with your own screwdiver to-go kit, Lialeets baked a chocolate mermaid cake in a hot pink and, of course, you may still be recovering from the vodka shots.  The only thing that got missed was the fruit from the drink was skewered on actual screwdrivers, but somehow didn't make it off the float.  C'est la vie.

Now that I know boats are in being thrown in, I guess I'm going to have to up my game for 2010!!!

I had such a blast.  Weather CANNOT rain on my parade, just figured the Universe wanted to make sure all the maids were nice and wet.

Madame:

I'm not sure I saw all those bribes got to us. C'est La Vie.

But one of last year's bribes lives on in my fridge. It awaits appropriate preservation for museum display, or perhaps just a late night, bleary eyed trip to the fridge by a hungry Chief Justice.

Oh too sad. Well I hope at least some of the judges got some.  The little bags were hot pink and in a bucket that said Splashdance "party to go".  Well, I'm sure some Mermaid or Neptune got the splash party and all those rad fans that splashed and cheered in the rain deserve some refreshment.

It is sometimes hard to tell who is a judge and who is a spectator (with the exception of yourself of course).  Did you and Mrs. Chief Justice get your Splashdance tshirts?   I hope so.  I bet there are some treasures at the casa Chief Justice for sure.

I had to take today after work, doing those stretch moves in high heel sneaker stilettos was a challenge.  My heart is happy, but my feet a little less so.

Thanks for the shoe link. Can you believe those beauty's only cost $5 ($7 with shipping), the insoles I put inside to try to save my feet cost twice as much.  Once my feet recover I will be putting those babies back on.
