Save Coney Island burlesque party this Fri Nov 6

Save Coney Island is having a big fund raiser including Murray Hill and Angie Pontani's "This is Burlesque" show. In addition, it's Angie's birthday, so it should be a heck of a night!

What: This Is Burlesque & more, for Save Coney Island
Where: Sweet Caroline's, Manhattan, 322 West 45th street, bet. 8 & 9 Ave.'s
When: Friday, November 6th, at 9PM
Who: Angie Pontani, Murray Hill, and more!
Why: Are you kidding? This is Burlesque is awesome, and it's Angie's birthday!
How (much): It's a fundraiser, so either $10 and a 2 drink minimum, or $70 open bar VIP tix

We discovered that Save Coney Island is having a fundraiser at Sweet Caroline's on West 45th Street in Manhattan on Nov. 6th. See http://www.saveconeyisland.net/?p=788 or http://www.coneyisland.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1257266286/0

Sweet Caroline's opened only a few weeks ago and already they are violating of a number of items from the agreement they signed with block residents and members of the West 45th St. Block Association in September (and also agreed to with the State Liquor Authority as part of their license).

While it appears that Save Coney Island had no way of knowing all this beforehand, we think it's important to let you know now that some of Sweet Caroline's behavior since they opened has been disruptive to our block. This is a residential block and Sweet Caroline's wants to operate as if they are in the middle of Times Square.

Manhattan is not all office towers. Like Brooklyn, there are many small neighborhoods (as Save Coney Island's various Janes reminded Christine Quinn this past summer at the Jane Jacobs Way dedication).

We remain supportive of your organization's goals to protect and preserve the character of your community, Coney Island. We hope you can see our position in wanting to maintain the residential character of our block.

IS REALLY SOME B.S. from little 45Th st. get real we CAN walk in your hood ,and you gotta love it , when you come to C.I. we don't Smiley

get your panties in a bunch ....so get bent ,and blow off ,and dry your eyes ,if it wasn't for save coney island you would be on at train to n.j. and that will cost you ,plus you would complain about your time traveling to the garden state.you REALLY need to chill-out of the box Smiley

and clam up Tongue

oh and by the way maybe most of the talent on45th st. maybe came from c.i. or my block in BROOKLYN Grin

Let's put this into perspective. This is a residential neighborhood. A resident of this community politely tells us that there may be problems with a venue where Save Coney Island is having a benefit and you basically tell them to go to hell, you can do whatever you want and they have to like it? I have to hand it to you, you're one hell of a representative of the image we want for Coney Island to keep the people coming!

I'm not representing 45th Street. I'm representing Coney Island when I say that you make Coney sound like a land of thugs and gang-bangers when you front like that. We want people to COME to Coney, not stay away because you make it sound like a dangerous place. Get some class. (Or attend one)
By the way, I can swim with the best of them, if you get my meaning.
