Living Photo Booth - 6th Project Year!

As you know, The
Living Photo Booth
has been an annual artist project hosted at the Mermaid Parade Ball, with the support and friendship of the Coney Island Museum and Coney Island USA, since 2005. It is a project created by Elize Hendler and documents the performers and people who participate every year as both a sociological and artistic project. It also has been a fundraiser for CIUSA.
For all who participated, we promised to update you as soon as we had news:
The
Living Photo Booth
is posting the pictures from the
2009
project tonight to kick off the new website. Due to technical difficulties last year, we delayed on posting last year's images!
We are working hard on Saturday's (2010, this year's) images, many of them we will begin to upload by Thursday evening. Please be patient with us.
Partial proceeds of any print sales off the site will go to Coney Island USA as a fundraiser until the end of August.
The rest covers the base wholesale price of the printing process and pays us back some of the costs of the project, and cost of the online photo service, though the majority of this is covered by the Artist as a donation in-kind to Coney Island USA.
We have priced the prints at $3.50 for 4x6's and $5.00 for 5x7's. The 2009 pics are mixed sizes as you may recall the day was very wet and the groups of participants wily, so we edited out sky and concrete so ended up with some odd shapes. (should make some more sense when you see the images)
This is truly a labor of love for us. Thanks to everyone who participated!
We will be emailing everyone who signed up at the event as well later this week with more details.
Hope you enjoy them.

Please note - if you have trouble clicking on photos or with purchasing, try another browser - it doesn't seem to work in IE for mac all the time.
Thanks!
Elize

Is this what we posed for at the Aquarium, with the red curtain?

Some previews. Working on the images tonight - hope to get more up soon. I may need to delay to this weekend - I work at a nonprofit and the city is trying to close our early childhood center - so I had to take a break last night and work on calling press to try and stop them from kicking our kids and families out of their Head start and day care center! It has been a tough week!
I hope to have the bulk of the images up by the weekend. I always overestimate how fast I can turn this around.
Have you looked at the new site, and what do you think? Does anyone have any questions, thoughts?
Would people be interested in downloads instead of prints?
I spoke to CIUSA and 30% of any proceeds will go to them from the project. The rest will pay for the online photo service, and the whole sale cost of the prints (although I have paid for that up front). All the money goes back into the project, so this year's would go to next year's project, but really so much is covered by myself and the volunteers, it is more about the continuing documenting of everyone who is a part of this community. I think of it like one big donation to everyone - and CIUSA pays for nothing of this project - they just allow us to come and be there and let us try to raise funds through print sales for them.
I hope you will support this artistic project and CIUSA - but if you prefer to give your money straight to them - do it! If you want a print but have other requests or want larger prints etc, just let me know. We can talk about it.
Also, if you are a performer and like the look of the pics, email me and we can work something out. I am not doing this to try and get alot of money from the project - I just wanted to make it self sustain eventually. This may be a pipe dream. But I also am a grant writer so having the new site up with a logo and everything may help me be able to get artists grants. The ultimate goal would be to give people in any community I shoot access to the images for a period of time as part of the project.
Thanks everyone!

Thank you so much for this, I checked out the photos of me and Marie last night and they're really nice. Now I just have to choose.

I am trying to figure out how to make them down-loadable for those who want a jpg instead of a print. Will follow up on this board. If you are interested just email me through the site. Thanks!

The Living Photo Booth site is up and the pics are loaded from 2009 and 2010 Living Photo Booth projects from the Mermaid Parade and Mermaid Parade Ball!
Here is the link:
http://elizeart.photoshelter.com
---------------------------------------
Here are the details:
---------------------------------------
* 2009 and 2010 images are up.
* You can get images in print form and in downloadable format.
* 30% of all sale of prints or downloads go to Coney Island USA as a donation. (until end of August - so get them now!)
* If you want to buy a download of the image instead of a print (I have had many requests for this so I changed it to add this feature) you click the download tab behind the print tab.
Any questions, feel free to give me a holler!
Please feel free to pass along this info to anyone who might be interested! Forward wildly!
Updates: I am continuing to load up LPB images from past years (back to 2005!).
This is an ongoing project, so if there was an image you wanted or want again from a prior year, I have kept the entire archive over the years. The additional proceeds from this project's sales will be used to continue this project and maintain the archive year to year as well as potentially expand it to new communities. If you are looking for something in particular, let me know and I will see if I can find it for you! But the ultimate goal is to have it online at certain times of year for people to have access to the project directly. As an evolving project, I hope you will continue to participate and support it! And no, we did not win the lottery, we just spent an inordinate amount of time and energy this year to try and make this a better system. Let me know what you think!
All the best to you, and yours and have a great rest of the summer!!
