Sex on the Beach
Jul 28th, 2010, 2:07pm

I noticed that the trash barrels are corralled this year, compared to what I saw previously, where they were lined down the whole beach. It looks much better, and I was wondering if that was a Parks Department decision, or community preference?

Another thing, is the trash - there is a lot of it. The shore line is full of plastic bags, diapers, clothing, and bottles. Any ideas?

And how about the Stillwell boardwalk entrance? Every week end it is almost unbearable - I can't believe they don't have a larger dumpster??? There's like three 3-yard dumpsters and they are always over flowing.

Carrolled? They sing? I think you mean corralled.

All the beaches around here get messy as the day goes on and people leave.  Go out to Jones Beach, Riis Park, Orchard beach, any of em and  5pm you see diapers, cups, food take out containers, cans, and more diapers everywhere.  It's hard to clean a beach while it is busy and people are messing it faster than it can be cleaned. ANY beach.
Volunteers walk the tide line with buckets collecting it and the staff works hard cleaning the whole beach up with the rake truck, just for the same cycle to repeat the next day. Some People are pigs, they just let the garbage fly when they are done with it.  I seen a poor kid's sandcastle get wiped out not by the tide coming in, but by the tide dropping in a nasty $hitty diaper that was pulled in off the shore previously.
The only one's to blame for that are the people who feel obligated to spread disease and pollution and take what is gifted to them for granted.  Definitely not the fault of those who try their best to keep the place clean.

BTW- your topic header  "Sex on the Beach" heading a trash related thread.
Thank you for telling us all that you like to have sex with trash.

I'm tired of this troll.  Need a ride on the Air Race for some peaceful relaxation.

You know a bridge is in rough shape when you can't even find a troll to camp out under it.

I wouldn't sleep under a bridge while Thor Equities leaves their property unlocked.

So how about the barrels on the beach was it community, or Parks that changed the system?

And, I remember back in the 70's, when Coney Island was Coney Island, and you could walk under the board walk, and there were waves big enough to ride, and there were shells at the shore line, and the El Dorado was just getting started, and I can remember saying to myself, "self, you know, that bumper car business is the . . ," cause I liked playing skee ball.

There are still shells by the shore line, waves are waves, the size depends on the weather, The Eldorado is still the coolest ride in Coney and you're starting to piss people off.

No, no, NO---any fool knows that the size of the waves is directly correlated to the amount of business, or lack thereof, that's occuring at any beach-area amusements or concessionaires.

One time, in 1910 (when all three parks were operating), there was a veritible soo-nommy along the Brooklyn coastline.  And those pictures of a packed beach, whatever the year?  What they don't show is the gigantic "Day After Tomorrow"-slash-"Poseidon Adventure" sized tidal wave zooming in just off shore.

I thought you would've known these things, being a so-called expert.  But it looks like Cynic has the straight dope (or some dope, I should say---and some really good dope, if the posts are any indication)....

And before anyone cracks wise: yes, I know how to spell tsunami.
