Author, "Circus Jerks"
Aaron Smith is a journalist, thru-hiker, ex-circus barker and former roustabout. As a teenage metalhead in the 1980s, he ran away from home (walked actually - 2,150 miles from Georgia to Maine) and joined the circus. He lived on a train, which caught fire one night as it traveled to its next destination. An alligator escaped during a live show. An elephant tried to trunk him from a moving train. His incredible adventures with Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus, as well as the Big Apple Circus, go on and on.
Populated with clowns, dancing girls, Soviet bear trainers (with their bears), scalawags, elephants, and dung shovelers, Circus Jerks is a rare behind-the-scenes look at America’s fascinating circus culture, which is fast receding into history.
Circus Jerks available to purchase here.
Ticket sales end on Wednesday, December 2nd at 5pm.
