Coney Island From Above
1:02, Bogdan Tiflinsky (Director/DP)

This project shows the nostalgia of an empty Coney Island which has a lot of life still in it. Despite it being closed for the fall / winter season it is well preserved by its own atmosphere and character.

When drones first came out and Coney Island was not yet seen from above. Instead of showing of how far and high a drone can go. Why not make a little documentary.

Artwork for the Aquarium
1:00, Natalie Cash (Director), Wildlife Conservation Society (Producer)

Eight year old artist Siara Soper creates magical marine drawings to benefit Coney Island's New York Aquarium.

10:23, Anna Gedal (Director/Writer/Producer)

Journey back to 1904 when Coney Island was America’s amusement capital, and Dreamland was its premier destination. This film explores Dreamland’s unique fantasy world that championed simulation over speed.

5:28, Howie Alex (Director)

Daydreams of a lone wayfarer.

3:15, Yasir Masood (Director/Writer/Cast), Peter McCain (Director/Producer), Tabinda Javed (Writer/Cast), Ross Mayfield (Sound & Music)

Yasir Masood and Peter McCain’s Snowfall (2020) is a correspondence of poetic letters in Urdu between mother and son. Written seasons apart, their words dance around their shared emotions on migration and steadfastness, nostalgia and loss, belonging and distance, and horizons of potential futures so close, one might step into them.

Polar Plunge
14:39, Daniel Turkewitz (Director/Producer/Editor)

A 15 minute doc on the January 1, 2020 Polar Plunge.

Tortuga Crawl
10:54, Gabriele Schafer (Director/Producer), Nick Fracaro (Cast/Writer/Producer)

On Thanksgiving 1990, theater artists Gabriele and Nick erected a tipi made of 78 U.S. Domestic #3 mailbags in a New York City's then longest-existing shantytown, located at the foot of the Manhattan Bridge at Canal and Chrystie Streets. The tipi was dedicated on December 29, 1990, in commemoration of the centenary of the Wounded Knee Massacre, "in remembrance of the lives lost and to the sovereignty and dignity of all disenfranchised individuals today." With the 30-year anniversary approaching -- and when Nick was selected by performance artist Pope.L to participate in his provocative project, "Conquest" –- we were inspired to honor our friend Mr. Lee with this film, shot at Polar Bear Bay, Coney Island.

Summer Song
3:46, Rene Calvo (Director/Writer/Producer)

Rodrigo Hernandez Fuentes-Ojelo earns a meager living as a busker on the Coney Island Boardwalk. Rusalka, a young mermaid, hears his enchanting voice and is beguiled. She prays to Yemoja to transform her into a human. Her wish is granted but according to accepted mermaid lore, she may never return to the sea. She finds Rodrigo by the boardwalk and with one glance they win each others hearts. They spend the day enjoying the splendor of Coney Island.

At the cusp of twilight they are confronted by Rodrigo's wife Lasirena. She holds her infant mermaid, Nerissa, in her arms. It is obvious to Rusalka that this is not Rodrigo's first encounter with a sea creature. Heartbroken she returns to the shore. There she is joined by Rodrigo and a fateful ending ensues.
