Coney Island USA Presents: A Funhouse Philosophers Production BOREDOM by Maxim Gorky

Saturday, May 30, 2015 - 8:00pm

Special! $10 at the door for Russian speakers and students with I.D.

BOREDOM is a Dick Zigun play adapted from MAXIM GORKY's trash-talking Coney Island essay about his 1904 visit.

Gorky lectures, drinks, smokes and pisses during the show. Tony the Carpenter introduces the famous Russian writer as head of the Amusement Park Workers Union as the play is set in Tony's 1904 APWU union hall. When Gorky himself is too bored to read his own work his mistress Maria Andreyeva takes over but her English is better besides she's the star actress at Stanislavski's Moscow Art Theatre.

Satiric, Marxist, Poetic and Precise, BOREDOM denounces amusement rides especially Dreamland's big show attractions of Creation & Hell. As far as BOREDOM is concerned: "In America, amusement parks are the opiate of the people".
