This year we are doing the Mermaid Parade awards a bit differently. Today we are announcing the nominees, then the actual winners will be announced at the very glamorous Mermaid Parade Awards Ceremony on the palindromic date of 8/1/18.

Judging the parade is a nearly impossible task -- and the breathtaking bribes don't make it any easier. So, as usual if you don’t see yourself on this list chalk it up to bungling judges, bad handwriting, obscured registration numbers, mistaken identity, and in particular an incredibly unfit Chief Justice For Life.

We were going to list all the “should have been nominated” Parade participants, but that would pretty much be the entire parade. So without further ado, the nominees in absolute random order:

  • 30 - Zoe and Her School of Fish: School's Out!
  • 27 - Popeye by the Sea
  • 19 - Brooklyn Bombshells
  • 192 - Chloroplastic Mermaid
  • 33 - Cadria's Fetus (maybe James Hibert?)
  • 532 - Tractor Pirates
  • 287 - The Tails of Glorye present:  Salmon Witch Tryals!
  • 448 - Sandcastle Games
  • ??? - Sephira: The Musical Ark
  • 15 - Bambi
  • 172 - Capture of King Neptune (Disco Mermaids Capture the King)
  • 430 - Norman Ner-Man
  • 243 - We Go Gray Together
  • 108 - Tails and Scales
  • 444 - Ruth Wader Finsburg
  • 910 - Big Dick Zigun
  • 96 - Pufferfish 1
  • 533 - Kostume Kult
  • 115 - Enchantress of Eels
  • 501 - L Train Brass Band
  • 192 - Magnus of Chloroplastic Mermaid
  • 297 - Tailshakers
  • 459 - Pufferfish 2
  • 18 - Poodle World Presents: Rube Goldfish
  • 935 - Scooter Mermaids
  • 315 - Mermaid Merry-Go-Round
  • 529 - Rockaway Mermaid Brigade
  • 556 - Shaolin - Wu Tang Clams
  • 257 - Balloon Neptune from The Sequin Sirens

In most cases nominees are presented with their registration number followed by the name used during registration. Let us know if we got something wrong by contacting us via the "send message" function on our Mermaid Parade Facebook page

The list is subject to change -- but we really hope it doesn't change.

Stay tuned for more information about the Awards Ceremony on August 1st.
