Since the 1970’s John Waters has created films celebrating society’s outcasts: Queers, criminals, POC, the working class, the sexually rebellious, and the just plain weird. And he does it with an irreverent sense of humor and an obvious love for his characters.
In a country increasingly dominated by racism and puritanism, John Waters, the champion of the “others,” has never been more relevant. Even if it is hard to find his movies on streaming.
And what better place to celebrate loveable weirdos than Coney Island USA, home of the Freak Bar and legendary sideshow?!
